For this project, our class chose either a book trilogy or 3 books with something in common to redesign. For my project, I chose three books with the common theme of man's best friend. For my designs, I went for very illustrative, and foreshadowing of the stories. I wanted all the front covers to show the dogs happy and content facing the reader as they start the book. For the back covers the dogs are looking towards their feat, and what ultimately cuts their time short. I designed it to be foretelling the story's plot, but also a scene that would be understood more in-depth once the book is read.
For the trilogy, I chose to style each book with a primary color being the emphasis. For Old Yeller and Where The Red Fern Grows their colors pretty much picked themselves. For Hachiko, blue only seemed fitting for such a somber story. As I was getting into typography I decided that less was more, and wanted these illustrative covers to not compete with the type I chose.
